Does anyone have a policy they can share as to what they do if they have a transport unit break down while there is a patient in back?

If it's easier, I can also be reached via email at erik.glassman@gmail.com

Thanks,
Erik

HI
The ground company I was with would immediately send out another unit to intercept us, then we would go with the pt to continue pt care in the repaired unit and the other unit would remain with the broken unit until towing arrived.
Our almost new sprinter unit died on me once. Not just died, virtually exploded on the freeway. I was giving the ringdown, turned to the front to say "gee something smells like it's burning" turned back, saw nothing but black smoke out the back window. When we pulled over, there was oil pouring down the front of the rig-even the head lights were covered in oil. OF course we had the pt caregiver riding in with us too for added fun and excitement. All turned out fine in the end...pt was fine, and unit got a whole new engine...
Sorry don't have official protocol to send to you.
