Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of earth
    And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
Of sun-split clouds - and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of - wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there
I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air.
Up, up the long delirious, burning blue,
I've topped the windswept heights with easy grace
Where never lark, or even eagle flew -
And, while with silent lifting mind I've trod
The high untresspassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand and touched the face of God.

My heart sank when I heard the news and memories of our crash resurfaced, even after almost 10 years, especially with my dear friend Jan working for Hospital Wing. This is a time when you rely on your fellow crew members to help you get through this difficult time since they understand how you feel and it cannot be expressed in words. Our prayers are with you as you look for a form of closure with unanswered questions of how and why,,, that you may never get ,,,but you will get comfort in the memories of those lost and what they contributed to everyone in the short time they were here on earth.

Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free
I'm following the path God laid for me
I took His hand when I heard His call
I turned my back and left it all

I could not stay another day
To laugh, to love, to work or play
Tasks left undone must stay that way
I've found that peace at the close of the day

If my parting has left a void
Then fill it with remembered joy
    A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss
Ah yes, these things I too will miss

Be not burdened with times of sorrow
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow
My life's been full, I savored much
Good friends, good times, and a loved ones touch

Perhaps my time seemed so brief
Don't lengthen it now with undue grief
Lift up your heart and share with me
God wanted me now, He set me free

    A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss
Ah yes, these things I too will miss

Be not burdened with times of sorrow
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow
My life's been full, I savored much
Good friends, good times, and a loved ones touch

Perhaps my time seemed so brief
Don't lengthen it now with undue grief
Lift up your heart and share with me
God wanted me now, He set me free

It is with a sobering reality that we do our jobs on a day such as this, but for all of us it is not a job but a passion and that this is why we selflessly give everything for our patients. The crew members we lost today loved what they did and will always be remembered for their selflessness. Our prayers are with anyone who is touched by their ultimate sacrifice.

The sad and untimely demise of Pilot Doug Phillips and flight nurses Misty Brogdon and Cindy Parker, has deeply shocked me. It is indeed a great loss for all of us. I offer my deepest condolence to their family, friends and colleagues.

The ultimate sacrifice is losing your own life while trying to save that of another. Even though they would not consider themselves hero's... I DO... They dedicated their lives to helping others, and I am humbled and honored by that fact.

May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields.
    And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of his hand.

May God be with you and bless you:
May you see your children's children.
May you be poor in misfortune,
    Rich in blessings.
May you know nothing but happiness
    From this day forward.

May the road rise up to meet you
May the wind be always at your back
May the warm rays of sun fall upon your home
And may the hand of a friend always be near.

May green be the grass you walk on,
May blue be the skies above you,
May pure be the joys that surround you,
May true be the hearts that love you.
