Subject: Riders on Long Rangers and A-Stars
To all of you out there flying Long Rangers and A-Stars. I'm wondering
what your policy is on taking family riders in addition to your
patient.(Interfacility obviously) More specifically, if you do allow
family riders, does anyone make the decision PRIOR to actually seeing the
patient and/or rider in question? Also...do you differentiate between a
peds patient with a parent rider vs. an adult patient with adult rider?
Obviously, the weight issue can probably eliminate taking a rider prior to
launching, but I'm thinking that all of the factors involved in this
decision cannot be addressed PRIOR to the flight crew's arrival at the
sending facility. Any input welcome.
Thanks..
