Nomex

I'm looking for instruction from someone who understands Nomex better than I 
do.

I appreciate that it is important to wear natural fiber clothes under the 
Nomex so they don't heat up and melt to your skin.  My question is:  What's the 
effect of wearing artificial materials, such as a nylon jacket or vest, over 
the Nomex?  In a fire, do you still get the same protection from the Nomex or 
does the melting material on top of it degrade the protective effect?
