Re: Diverting Flights
Josh,
Sorry but we are strictly interfacility. I have heard this question raised before from the flight team next door to us. I'll see if I can find somthing out.

I am seeking additional information regarding how other single helo, hospital
based programs utilizing both an adult team and a pedi/neonate team handle
diverting flights. What is the practice on the whole regarding diverting a
specialty team or the adult team OFF of an interfacility flight for scene
response. Is the diversion ok'ed by the sending physician? Is the medical control
physician given the authority to divert? If the sending physician is given that
authority who contacts him/her? Is it done doc to doc, comm spec to doc? If
there is a diversion policy is there specific criteria that a patient must
meet to qualify for the question "can we divert"? Is there case law pro-con the
issue that supports the diversion ideology for rendering care to a patient
who is not currently in a hospital setting?
Thanks in advance for your help!
Josh
