Subject: Medic Bags

I have had the opportunity to try multiple bags, augmented from many
different original uses. Blackhawk has produced the STOMP 2, a bag well
endowed with many pouches, triple stitched and reinforced seams, ample
room for rescue gear, and exchangeable support pockets for airway kits,
and meds. The primary problem with this pack is the fact that it's
extremely uncomfortable. The size makes it somewhat awkward to carry
and the shoulder strap placement is not ergonomic.
Another Bag Co. is the London Bridge Trading Co. They have a vast
selection of packs rating from smaller medic assault pack for the
basics, to larger support packs. Positive aspects are rugged
construction, ergonomic, extremely flexible, and the company is willing
to customize and mass produce. Big negative for BOTH is cost, unless
supported by a large budget either company's bags are large Christmas
presents, not personal work bags. Necessity being the mother of
invention I have augmented a bag from of all places Target. I have
taken a medium sized Target brand backpack with many variable sized
pockets and triple stitched seams, and augmented the large center pocket
with an insert to carry meds and other tools. Although not as
comfortable a LBT Co. bags much, much less expensive and fulfills the
need.
