Having watched the show, I think the portrayal of the incident did not
reflect negatively on our industry. On the contrary, I think the flight
crew member (to the layperson it could have been a pilot,
paramedic or whatever) that ignored his own serious injury to continue
to provide care was as honorable a portrayal as could be asked for.

I also disagree that it was "too Hollywood to take seriously" (although
I certainly understand why someone would feel that way. The actual crash
sequence was realistic enough for me to literally feel nauseated and unable
to talk about it to my wife for a few minutes. I wonder how many others
in the air medical community had a similar reaction?

It would be interesting to see an open discussion on this virtual crash, since
we never do so on this forum with real accidents. We have all the components
of a real crash, including witnesses (people that watched the show). I'd
like to hear people's thoughts on contributing factors, root cause
analysis, pilot's opinions on the incident, etc. We don't have to worry
about real companies and individuals, since it's a fake accident. We
could treat it as a drill.

If this turns into a complex discussion, I'd like to propose that
any messages dealing with the show begin with "ER CRASH:" in the subject
line so people that don't want to participate can easily delete messages.

Bring it on...
