Question/Topic
Greetings,
Are there any programs out there using Glycoprotein IIb/IIIa inhibitors
and/or half dose Fibrinolytics prior to an interventional cardiac cath (PCI)? Our
region, here in Southern Oregon, recently implemented a new ST Elevation MI
(STEMI) protocol bypassing local hospital facilities and taking patients who
meet the criteria to the Interventional Cardiac Cath facility. I cannot find any
statistical data supporting the use of IIb/IIIa inhibitors and/or
Fibrinolytics prior to a cath or during transport. (i.e. for long flights/transports) I
do know, from attending the AMTC conference, that other programs do
administer these agents in the field. Does anyone have any imput, experience, personal
feelings, and/or articles about this? Please E-mail me at Medic2bmd@aol.com,
or you can respond to the posted topic.
Thank you!
