"Air Medical Transport Registry" Now Available (fwd)
FlightWeb is pleased to announce another valuable resource for the air
medical community. Beginning November 1, 2003, the Air Medical Transport
Registry (AMT-R) is available for public access.
The AMT-R is a searchable database containing contact information and
other basic data on air medical transport services in the United States.
In the near future, the AMT-R will be expanded to include international
programs as well.
The AMT-R has been developed to facilitate communications between air
medical professionals. The Registry has been collated from dozens of
resources. In addition to information that was compiled into the initial
AMT-R database, the editors have added new fields in an effort to develop
a more complete resource. The Registry contains air medical transport
service names, addresses, administrator names, as well as basic
information such as bases of operations, transport services provided,
aircraft types, aircraft operators, and flight crew configurations.
Identifying a tool to enhance communications and future research and with
the support of several air medical associations, The University of Chicago
Aeromedical Network (UCAN) and FlightWeb have teamed up to make the
database accessible to the air medical community. Recognizing that
information will always be changing and with new fields added, the
resources of FlightWeb and UCAN will provide a mechanism to maintain the
completeness and accuracy of this list.
About FlightWeb
FlightWeb is a website dedicated to air medical professionals providing
timely news, resources and information, as well as discussion forums.
FlightWeb has been in operation for over eight years.
About UCAN
UCAN was the first hospital-based air medical transport program in the
Chicago area and has been in service since December 1983. In October
2002, the Air Medical Physician Association (AMPA) published the UCAN
Safety Committee's research entitled, "A Safety Report and Risk Assessment
in Air Medical Transport". As part of the research project and to further
assist with the distribution of the report throughout the air medical
community, UCAN compiled a comprehensive list of air medical programs
within the United States. This list became the foundation of the AMT-R.
Visit the Air Medical Transport Registry and help keep this valuable
resource accurate and up to date!
