Re: Sirens on air medical helicopters
I think it dates back to the origins of civilian air medical helicopter service in the 70's, i.e.:
If a ground ambulance needs a siren, then an air medical helicopter ambulance must need a siren.
Kind of like the old days of cars when someone had to walk in front of the car with a red flag to prevent the horses from being scared.
I know that Nevada dropped the siren requirement 20 some years ago and thought all other states had done the same.
