Re: Cell Phones

I talked with several pilots and mechanics about this subject as all the flight services I know of use some type of cell or satellite phone. A correct comment was made as bolting or wiring anything to an aircraft without an STC is a big no..no. However the FAA doesn't regulate the use of cellphones, the FCC is in control of this situation. Now comes the tricky part.... The FAA wants you to make sure that any portable electronic device doesn't cause any interference with controls or instruments. How do you accomplish this??? Just like the FAA....they don't tell you. That would be up to you to prove. So if you can convince them that you were struck by lightning as a kid and have a super power with the exception that your Kryptonite is anything that would effect aviation equipment, cell phones not being on that list. You would be OK.
The use of industrial strength Velcro and nonflammable bond is often used for Port. Electronic Devices in many aircraft. That would require battery power only. So what would be the point....there is no point, only my 2 cents. Fly safe everyone.

Mark.
