RE: Cell Phones

Sorry for the acronym, I think STC is "Special Type Certificate". Steven

I forget the words, (something something certificate) but it is the
certificate, by the FAA, for anything that is attached to the airframe,
allowing it to be there. Your particular brand/model stretcher is STC'd to
your aircraft...say you have an Aero sled system in your 421 and you want to
put it into your Lear 25... Unless that type/model Aero sled has an STC for
the Lear, you can't just have your mechanic pull it out and move it over,
you have to obtain an STC (takes weeks to months) for it to be used in that
aircraft.

OK... forgive my ignorance, but what does "STC'd" mean?

(i.e. "Their cell phones do not work on helicopters but are STC'd for many
types of fixed wing aircraft.")
