Our specialty teams receive the initial and recurrent safety training as all other teams. Our initial training is 6-12 weeks of full time training which includes rotor and fixed wing safety flight phys etc. Our specialty team challenges only differ from the others in the scene arena since our s are generally interfacility. We are the primary crew when it is a neo or maternal transport. Our safety committee is made up of a fixedwing pilot, rotorwing pilot, mechanic, Adult/ped Flight RN, Neonatal Flight RN, Maternal Flight RN, Flight Paramedic, Flight RRT, and Communications specialist. We consider each team a specialty team the adult/pediatric RN/Paramedic team that does adult/ped interfacility and scene transports, the Adult/ped RN/RRTteam for ventilated interfacility transports, the Neonatal /RRT team, and the Maternal/RRT team. Each are specialists in the type of transport they do. Each receives the same safety training. We have a fantastic safety record and great administrative support in the area of safety.
I hope this helps
