RE: USA Today

I think the articles did one good thing. A lot of agencies have started
to take a look at there own agency. My question is what does each
agency in the article consider a saved patient, there are many different
definitions that are being used. These definitions can change the
statistics a lot.

This, ultimately, is my issue with this, er, issue(?) of the newspaper:
It
seems to imply to the public that the key to immortality is having an
ambulance arrive at your side within a certain time frame. People then
think "If the ambulance had gotten here in 3 minutes instead of 5, then
Grandpa would still be with us. They didn't, and he's not, so I'm gonna

sue."

The article also fails to address the other, equally fatal (but not as
easily treated) rhythms such as PEA and asystole, but that's another
discussion entirely.

I'm all for honest and fair public scrutiny and review of what we do,
but
let's make it fair and honest. This article shows ONE side of a
multifaceted issue. And in doing so, it suggests that we throw out the
baby
with the bath water (with credit to KLM.)
