Diprivan (propofol) is an excellent agent.  I personally don't see why
medics
should not be allowed to titrate it, provided that it is titrated
according to the
Ramsey scale (look it up if you don't know about it).

Some overlooked problems with Diprivan (propofol) are:

1,  high risk of infection.  There's a host of literature out there about
catheter
related infection, predominantly related to lipid-based agents.
2.  Must be given via a dedicated line--you can't mix other drugs with it
3.  I would think that lipid agents are inappropriate for use on patients
recieving statins.
4.  Bolus dosing diprivan is not a good idea, due to the half-life.  A
bolus
would be appropriate if used as an induction agent.
