RE: scene flight blood & pericardiocentesis

We also carry two units of O neg packed cells on each trauma call either scene or interfacility. Our crews uses their descretion on taking it for medical calls that might require blood resusitation. We also carry hespan for large molecule protien replacement with our blood therapy.

We have discussed pericardiocentesis. However, in most traumatic injuries to the pericardial sac, there won't be much blood to remove. If you do decided to perform the centesis, you'll probably just hit clots. The risk of further injury doesn't out weigh the benifits..
