RE: Survival Training

Jeremy:

There is a company that I'm familiar with that has a dunker and travels to
the location of the training. They are LTR (Learn To Return) They conduct
survival training for the oil industry and gov. agencies. The compny was
started by former Air Force SERE (Survival Escape Rescue Evation)
Instructor. The company has a web site on the net.

Subject: Survival Training

Our program is preparing once again to have our annual survival training.
We were hoping to get into a helo dunker and focus on water survival this
year, however we have been unable to get access to the dunker so we will
probably have land survival training again. I am looking for ideas from
different programs.

The last survival training we did started with about an hour to two hour
lecture / demonstration on land survival techniques (fire starting, shelter
building, water collection, compass navigation, etc). After which, we were
blindfolded and led into the woods in groups of 4 to 5. Each group carried
a radio for emergencies and had a task list (build a shelter, start a fire,
collect wood, etc). When we were called on the radio to return to base the
compass navigation came into place utilizing a map with our location marked
and our destination.

Any ideas or suggestions on variations would be great. I can be reached at
the following phone number and email addresses. Thanks in advance.
