RE: pay
This is the deal where I am employed. If it is required as described in
the department job description our hospital pays for the education.
Otherwise, if you choose to obtain a certification that is not required,
you pay yourself. All of our certifications courses are taught at the
hospital and are free to employees if required in their job description.
Therefore, we generally do not pay for staff to go out of the area to
obtain certifications. We get our hourly wage for attending these
courses. I feel lucky that our hospital values the importance of
continuing education for the staff. Hope this helps.

Just wandering how everyone else gets paid for the extra
certifications that we are required to keep current. Example: ACLS, BLS,
PALS, ENPC, TNCC, NALS, CCRN so forth. Our hospital pays us for two such
as
ACLS and ENPC and one such as CCRN, but the rest are paid for by us with
no
compensation.
