The newest articles and columns are now online at www.MERGINET.com, your
“worldwide website for emergency responders.” Go to “Newsroom” on the orange
bar on the home page or click on the “Latest Issue” button.

As our wider community gears up for EMS Week, we have a profile of the EMS
Hall of Fame in Roanoke, Virginia by Tonya Schafer, along with an article
about EMStock, a new annual event designed to be a lot of fun (and worth
some CEs!) in Texas. It’s a three-day “Woodstock”-type gathering for EMS
folks of all stripes and their families.

Managing editor Laura Bennett-Kimble gets personal this month with an essay
about her role at MERGINET; the essay is also our collaborative article with
“EMS Magazine” this month. One thing everyone can stand to learn (or
improve) is communication -- be sure to read Dave Rodger’s “Teaching
Communication” article to get some new ideas. In Straight Talk, the
discussion is about life and death (nothing new), and Dave Williams asks who
’s got the monkey in his Management Matters column.

You’ll also find a book review by Mike Taigman on “Everyday Crisis
Management,” by Mark Friedman, M.D., and a review of the ACLS Pocket
Reference by Greg Schaffer.

We know it’s worth your time to check out MERGINET this month! Don’t forget
to browse the “Sharps Container” on the homepage where interesting EMS news
items appear.

Remember, you have access to our seven years of archives at a click of the
mouse. As always, your feedback is important. It goes to the author, the
editor, and the publisher when you email us via the “Send Comments” button
at the end of each article. We reply to everyone who writes. You can also
“go direct” with founder Richard Bilger at rbilger@merginet.com or with Kate
at editor@merginet.com.

Welcome to May 2003!
