How can any of us work together as a team if one of the team members
really feels the other is guilty of oppressing them?
In the international history of oppressed peoples and groups no oppressed
people has ever liberated themselves through complaining alone.
Complaints without action amounts to nothing more than
whinning.
If, as a Paramedic, an individual feels oppressed I believe the best
course of action would be to work within the system, through the various
professional organizations available to Paramedics, to address the
inequities produced by the oppression.
The mere fact that the EMT-P to RN bridge program exists is in direct
tribute to medics and nurses (remember the instructors are nurses) who
worked together with a common goal and an understanding that Paramedics
ARE an uniquely skilled labor force.
I respectfully submit any other discussion focused at slamming one group
or the other is below the high ethical standards we have set for
ourselves as professionals.
