Certification requirements for flight nursing?
Hello. My name is Nicole DuPree, and I am currently a junior nursing
student at the University at Buffalo in New York. I have been "lurking" on
this listserv for a few weeks now to learn a little bit more about various
career opportunities in nursing. As an assignment for one of my classes
this semester, we are supposed to pose a question and receive responses
regarding an issue of my choice. Therefore, I was wondering if anyone could
explain to me how one exactly becomes a flight nurse, how many years of
experience you would need to become a certified flight nurse, and the
different types of certification/licensure that you are required by law to
possess in order to be considered eligible for this position. If I am
correct in saying so, I also have noticed that EMTs and paramedics are able
to work in this role as well. Please correct me if I am wrong, I really am
ignorant as to the requirements of the job. If anyone if available to
explain a this information to me, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
and I look forward to hearing your responses.
Sincerely,
Nicole DuPree
Junior Nursing Student, University at Buffalo
