Re: HIPPA and Patient Follow-up
The AMPA Board of Directors has just approved a position paper that supports
the long-standing practice of follow-up letters. The position paper argues
that follow-up letters with PHI are permitted by HIPAA. The paper should be
published soon and will be posted on the AMPA website in the future as well
(www.ampa.org). The paper has been reviewed by lawyers with EMS and HIPAA
expertise.
