Preventing the Spread of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS)
Public Health Training Network Satellite Broadcast and Webcast  Program

This broadcast sponsored by the World Health Organization (WHO) and
supported by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will
provide  information on Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS)
reported in patients in Asia, North America, and Europe.

This global broadcast will  discuss the latest findings regarding the
SARS outbreak and prevention of  transmission in healthcare settings.
The faculty will include representatives from WHO, CDC, and several
affected countries who will report their experiences with SARS.

Goal:   To provide the public health and clinical communities basic
information regarding the SARS outbreak and guidance to prevent
transmission.

Objectives:  Upon successful completion of the program, participants
will be able to:
 *     Describe the current outbreak of SARS.
 *     Describe strategies to prevent transmission in hospitals and
healthcare facilities.
 *     Recognize the need for international cooperation to stop the
spread
 of SARS.

When:     Friday, April 4, 2003
               10 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. (broadcast)   OR
               2 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.  (rebroadcast)

Where:  Roybal, Bldg 1, Auditorium B (Both broadcast and rebroadcast)

Target Audience:  Clinicians, healthcare providers, and public health
advisors in countries reporting cases of SARS and others who want
knowledge of SARS transmission prevention strategies

Registration: Although continuing education credit is not available for
the  broadcasts/webcasts, registration and evaluation will provide
valuable feedback to CDC.  A certificate of attendance will be awarded
to participants who complete the evaluation.
