I have read with interest the 2-3 prior messages regarding FAST exam in the prehospital setting. I am looking to place our I-Look ultrasound on our aircraft. I was interested in studying impact on patient outcomes. Our helicopter program flies a resident-nurse team. In addition we have a second EM intern fly three days a week. As part of our residency we have training in ultrasound.
I am aware of only 1 published study in 2000 published in AirMed which essentially showed that ultrasound could be performed inflight. Are there any ongoing studies with inflight ultrasound that anyone is aware of regarding impact on outcomes?
