Re: Etomidate for kids



Etomidate also comes in 40 mg bristojets, which we have found very cumbersome. They don't fit in med bags very well. We carry 2 vials of Etomidate and stick with the .3mg/kg. However, in the field we have found that we can get by with lower doses. FYI, there has been some research out there showing that Etomidate when given alone, is less effective (lower success rates with intubation) than when given together with sux. We use Etomidate with in-house intubations by itself all of the time, but obviously the environment is more controlled.
