I work at Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital in Cleveland we routinely
use etomidate as part of RSI. Works great!!! I am sort of superstitious
about using any thing else! Every time I have use it have had succesfull
intubations! as far as a age cut off---well I just intubated at 14 day old
and a 15 month old both using etomidate- and was succesfull with 1st
attempts on both. Decreases ICP, Very little hemodynamic effect, work on
adults, peds, doesnt need to be locked up.....you cant go wrong!
Anyone know of a max dose on adults?? if you use .3mg/kg you can easily go
over 20mg per vial --which is all we carry. any thoughts.
