Re: Etomidate (and the 407)

We, or more accurately, all of our patients have experienced the same effects as in the previous replies.  We typically use it in place of other hypnotics that cause hemodynamic instability in an already compromised patient.  Works extremely fast with a duration of 5-8 or 10 minutes using a dose of 0.3mg/kg with a max of 20mg per in a single dose.  Followed with Anectine.  The most common side effect I've noticed is the myoclonal contractions.  Look pretty similar to the fasciculations seen with Anectine.  These only last a few seconds and I haven't seen any deleterious effects from them.  If you are exploring it to use for an RSI procedure I believe you will be pleased.
As for the 407 weight limitations, I work with those two giants (great guys by the way) that previously commented (Griffin and Lummus).  The only time weight has been a factor when I've been on duty was when transporting a 250 pound patient with a physician riding along.  Oh yeah, did I say the patient was on a balloon pump?!  Just had to hover above the helipad for a few minutes to burn enough fuel for safe transition.  Very powerful.  Great aircraft!
