Thanks for the information, Dave. I am not fully versed in the chemical composition of Nomex, rest assured, I will do some research. In the case of a flash fire in a downed helicopter vs a sustained fire in a downed helicopter; Who really cares? Certain death is certain death, we would only be closer to a total crematory state if we were not wearing Nomex. I am also wondering if with frequent laundering of Nomex, does the thread composition seperate? That could give a more open ventilation system for fire to penetrate the synthetic material. Research will make the answer more demonstrative.
