Title: Paramedic (EMT-P) - Emergency (Fort Macleod Hospital, Chinook Health Region - Alberta) Details:

PT/Regular, FTE:.68. Hours Of Work: 11.25 hr extended shifts. Start Date: 01-March-03. Competition Closing Date: 08-Feb-03. Required Qualifications: The staff paramedic will be part of a nurse/paramedic team providing patient care in a rural hospital emergency department setting. The nurse/paramedic team will be responsible to the Emergency /Critical Care program. The staff paramedic will provide services under limited supervision, in accordance with designated medical control guidelines, Chinook Health Region policies, procedures, and protocols, the Health Discipline Act of Alberta and the Alberta College of Paramedics.

In addition to direct patient care activities, additional duties may include health promotion/injury prevention activities, clinical development of both CHR and ambulance personnel and security support. Current ACOP registration (EMT-P). Minimum one year EMS or acute care experience. Current ACLS certification. Current BTLS or PHTLS certification. Demonstrated ability to integrate advanced life support interventions/assessments into organized primary and secondary surveys. Able to function independently as well as a team player. Must be well organized and able to prioritize effectively. Excellent communication skills required. Motivated and enthusiastic learner.
