Re: IABP TRANSPORT IN THE BO-105

<< I'm looking for contacts who transport balloon pumps on a BO105. Any info would be helpful. >>

I am also interested in hearing from programs who do or have done IABP transports in the Bolkow - I'm just curious how you handle the logistics of simultaneously loading the patient, the IABP, the infusion pumps, the monitor, etc, as well as how you monitor the patient in flight and how you secure the IABP inside the airframe.

The program that I worked for previously (and also the one that I work for now, from what I understand) ALMOST started doing IABP transports in 105's, until we basically determined that adequate care (distal pulse checks, etc.) could not be provided to such a critical patient in the small confines of that particular aircraft - at least not when you have an IABP strapped next to the side-facing crewmember. We felt that there were just too many things that could go wrong that would be very difficult or impossible to address in the 105.

I do, however, have knowledge of the way it would have worked (at my previous program) IF we had proceeded with the project, and if you contact me privately I would be happy to share that bit of info.

Take care,
