It depends on your status. If your exempt or non-exempt as far as the
govenment goes. I forget which is which but one calls for you to get paid a
salary the other hourly. One requires overtime the other doesnt. Generally
if your a contrated salaried employee you agreed to be paid that amount for
a certain amount of time, probably what are currently working. So in short
it very well possible that it is legal. If your concerned though to be sure
id contact a lawyer that specializes in employment law.
