Re: Calstar to comply with California labor codes

I can appreciate your (not to mention others) commitment, dedication,
and qualifications; I am positive you have earned them and have the same
dedication to your career and industry. I am also in an administrative
role with a flight program (not that it matters). We have been battling
this issue for quite some time. You as well as other new guests who
have posted to this list have a HIGHLY valid point as to the issue of
pay of EMS pilots. I would agree, pilots, the guys at the controls,
have lives in their hands...etc, are grossly underpaid; as could be the
arguement for others and has been. As a business professional I do not
usually get involved in the thoughtful jousting on this list serve.
However, I do read it faithfully and gather copious amounts of very
useful information from it's content. On the other hand I have looked
into the justhelicopters list serve in anticipation of getting more
information on this topic. I have to say that I no longer frequent that
site for reasons of their lack of professional communication style, lack
of proof for an increased compensation by actions evidenced by a lack of
basic academic vocabulary. If you are truly concerned may I politely
ask, what are you doing in your house to fix the situation. I ask this
for further information not to degrade anything you or anyone has said.
I have seen much grumbling but not much in the way of suggestions or
ideas. I am following with much interest the actions and result of the
folks on the west coast, they have done something (productive) with law.
I am happy to discuss business in a business fashion, in the proper
setting. As far as using this site for pushing the issue I say go for
it...good luck and I hope to learn something from all of you. However
the immature language and childish name calling should stay to the
justhelicopter site where it is accepted and appreciated.

Good grief, Lou... your rudeness ruins any point you may make. I
certainly wouldn't want you representing my interests in any
confrontation or debate. michele moore

My qualifications are, Manuel, that I am an elected State Fire
Commissioner
running a Fire/EMS first response team that averages over 20 calls per
day
and is responsible for 11 sq. miles of primary service turf and 50,000
residents. I have served in this capacity for 10 years. So, yes, I do

think I am quite qualified to speak my piece here. I feel EMS pilot
issues
should be a part of this network and that you as a crew member should be
more
supportive instead of critical of the current pay issues. I'm very sure
that
if it were about your position that you too would expect the rest of us
to be
more sympathetic.

So, you see, dear soul, the EMS aviation industry is only secondary to
my
commitment.... Don't slobber on yourself about what it's like to be on
the
street and a committed professional. Your preaching to the choir here.

LouC
