Re: Calstar to comply with California labor codes

Dear EMS Pilot's Very Outspoken wife:

The vast majority of people that contribute to this list on a regular basis are solid professionals and I dare say have a pretty good idea what we are about.  I can say unequivocally that as a group we have the utmost respect for the ability and professionalism of the aviation members of the aeromedical team.  You don't have to try convince us that the your husband and others like him are performing a vital contribution to the profession of aeromedical  transport...we already know this.  And I do think that issues affecting professional EMS pilots have a rightful place on Flightmed.

You haven't said one way or another but by your posting it sounds as if you do not work as an EMS professional so where you are coming from with the "we" stuff escapes me.  Furthermore, if that is the case, "we", unlike you, are out there everyday in the air or in an ambulance providing care to our patients and don't really have to shut up or justify anything.  At its core, what we do isn't about aviation, it's about providing specialized medical care to our patients and getting them to where definitive treatment is available by whatever means available.  Helicopters, airplanes, and ambulances are the way we get to work and were it not for the "sorry asses" of the medical team, your husband wouldn't be "graciously" hauling anything....

This is a public list and you have as much right to post an opinion here as anyone but the tone and attitude that you chose to address this group with contributes nothing to the discussion and is basically insulting...even if your post was directed towards "vocal crackpots and critical authors".  The best way to deal with those folks are to consider the source and use the delete key rather than feed into it...

But then again, maybe they aren't crackpots...maybe they are just very outspoken too...

Don't judge all the EMS pilots by a couple of vocal crackpots.  It's time we all take a good look at ourselves before pointing fingers at others.  We are in the "service"  industry of EMS and it is very solid with professional aviators.

The critical authors on this website who make negative comments about $9.00 p/h FBO Robinson pilots by comparison to the professionals they fly with daily in the EMS industry are only reflecting on their own shallow means and justification for being in the business.

If you truly are professionals as you claim, then shut the f**k up and act like one by supporting every EMS worker including the pilots that so graciously haul your sorry ass from point A to B.

No, I'm not an EMS pilot.  I'm married to one who's been doing this far longer than most of you have been breathing.  And, YES, the pilots in the EMS industry have been underpaid for years.  It's about time these companies start complying with the Federal Wage & Hour Law.  Everyone else has to, why not them?

A very outspoken EMS Pilot's wife...who will not sign her name in fear of retaliation on her husband's job.
