About our class: Our faculty travels throughout the world offering comprehensive training programs designed to enhance your teams' obstetrical transport knowledge. We present the class in the comfort of your own facility, thereby eliminating unnecessary expenses of sending staff out of town for training, covering shifts or paying overtime.
Why educate our teams? How many teams have been involved in an obstetrical transport that sounded easy enough, then everything took a turn for the worse? Many transport programs are very uncomfortable with transporting high-risk maternal patients! This situation creates unnecessary stress and places the institution at risk for liability! Is your team prepared to deal with an obstetrical crisis in transport? Is your procedure manual and medical direction clear and concise regarding the maternal transports that you do?
Target Audience: Registered Nurses, Paramedics, Respiratory Therapists.
This class is designed to prepare health care providers to care for high risk obstetrical patients in the pre-hospital, hospital, and interfacility transport setting. Class participants may include EMS & Emergency Room professionals, Critical Care Transport Team members (ground and air), Labor & Delivery staff learning transport techniques, or others interested in expanding their knowledge base. It is highly recommended that all health care professionals responsible for assessment, stabilization or transport of maternal patients take this course.
Goals / Objectives of this Seminar:
1. Familiarize student with the specialized needs of obstetrical patients in transport.
2. Understand common conditions warranting transport. Adequately assess maternal patients, provide proper interventions necessary for stabilization and appropriate care enroute.
3. Recognize abnormal fetal heart rate and contraction patterns and describe interventions.
4. Identify risks and benefits to maternal transports, and when to say "no" to a transport.
5. Understand emergency childbirth and related complicated deliveries.
