I saw a comment calling this "ratting someone out" and that would
create your programs version of "the Hatfields and McCoys" but I have to
disagree. If your team is fairly closeknit, and is truely concerned
about each other it doesn't have to be that way. If it does happen
then there were probably some issues there anyway. I would rather
live and take some flack than die or worse...another team member die--
because I was afraid to do the right thing. I would
encourage that person to go to the Employee Assistance Program in your
facility. They will get help , the program that most medical
professionals go to is located in the Atlanta area so this person would not have
far to go if it is determined that he needs treatment. I know that
at some facilities now, if you go and declare you have a problem through EAP you
can get rehab and then return to your job, but if you are "caught" by the
facility you are fired and recommendation is made to the licensing board that
you lose your license. Not much of an option as I see
it? Prayers for your decision.
