Welcome to the New Year! MERGINET’s first editorial release of 2003 is now
online. Please check your “worldwide website for emergency responders” at
www.MERGINET.com to see what’s up!
Greg Schaffer writes a compelling New Year’s look at the state of emergency
care, in his own words. (And he has agreed to join our cadre of product
reviewers, so watch for Greg’s name in coming months!) Kevin High remembers
a compelling call in “The Girl in the Grass.” Barb Chandler, a new writer at
MERGINET, examines our interpersonal boundaries in an excellent reminder of
how to stay sane out there.
Our “NAEMT News” collaborative article this month is about keeping patients
warm. See the article as it appears here on the Internet and in print in the
latest NAEMT newsletter.
Our reviewers have been busy. We welcome Jeff Robinson’s review about the
Draeger facemask, something you might like to have in case of terrorism in
your hometown. Mike Taigman reviews a movie this month: “Bowling for
Columbine.”
Dave Williams, our new management columnist, writes about providing good
customer service even during patient divert situations. And Law Bytes is
back with excellent information about how to handle the upcoming HIPAA
compliance “challenge”!
We also want to wish Lou Jordan, MERGINET friend and long-time member of the
global EMS community, many happy returns; he reached the grand age of 60 on
New Year's Day!
We’re always happy to hear from our readers. We reply to everyone who emails
us via the “Reader Feedback” button at the bottom of each article. Or, you
can always “go direct” with publisher Richard Bilger at Rbilger@Merginet.com
or with Kate at Editor@Merginet.com.
Welcome to January 2003!
