Re: ETOH ODOR



Hello All!
       My standard approach to documenting this has been to note "Odor of 
alcoholic beverages on breath." I also back this up with whatever other 
findings are present, such as slurred speech, alcoholic beverage containers 
at scene, etc. If this is challenged in court, I figure I'll always have the 
medical record from the hospital to refer to. There should be a blood alcohol 
on it. I can't remember a trauma or medical patient not having a blood 
alcohol drawn if there was any question about their being intoxicated.
