We are in the process of installing the Outerlink system in our helos. This system is set to automatically give our dispatch position reports . I does so approximately every 3-4 seconds so the pilot can fly and talk to ATC with on less concern, there are times they are very busy. /R ----- Original Message ----- From: Robert L. This way the VFR flight progress is tracked by the computer using the FAA maximum required time of ten minutes for updating the aircrafts position. This way the flight is always tracked for downed/missing aircraft procedures. I disagree with some of the other responses you have received. The FAA has stated a flight must comply with Part 135 only when there is a patient/organ onboard (A flight that you should receive compensation for). If the flight does not meet this criteria, then Part 91 rules apply.
