RE: Scenario
For those of you who responded on list or off, the diagnosis was Ebola. The originator of the scenario has stopped sending more updates, and didn't specify which human varient. However did state that the diagnosis came back with the WHO advisor on the UN aircraft, after the blood samples drawn and sent by ground were analysed.
Some additional spread within the camp from early exposure to the patients when they first arrived and before isolation was instituted. No air-evac undertaken due to military situation nearby and isolation/spread issues. Burned itself out after a while, camp abandoned and burned, new caches of hazmat and isolation gear obtained and stockpiled. Military advisor contracted to deal with security issues. More staff training and issance of PPE on all expeditions. Review of all innoculations etc.
"Barn Door" stuff mostly, but point made that better in scenario format than real life. With international air travel, the surveyor could have got on a flight back to CONUS and been home before becoming significantly symptomatic. Then we would be dealing with it in the heartland with far less clues and likely hospital/ambulance/crew contamination.
