We used a plug in heater at my previous service without any problems. In
addition to maintaining the medications it also kept the windows from
fogging up after start up as they didn't go from being cold to warm. All of
the modern plug in portable heats have built in safety features that prevent
accidental fires when used properly. Most have built in thermostats so they
wont run constantly and all have internal shut off that trip if the heater
is overturned. As long as you are careful to sit it in a location that
allows 6-12 inches on either side and the rear and a couple of feet in
front you should be ok.
