Re: Heaters in Aircraft
Yup, we use a small ceramic heater here in Kentucky. If I recall,
manufactured by Pelonis. Picked it up at Ace Hardware.
Be sure that your aircraft wiring is up to plugging this heater into it's
circuits. Alternative is running a cord into the door/window. I also
recommed that the extension cord you use be at least 12 gauge wire to
prevent overheating of the wiring.
In the Bell 407, we are able to run the Propaq charger and the heater easily
with this configuration.
Just make sure that the unit selected has a tip-over safety switch that
turns the heater off when turned over. It goes without saying that the
heater should have a clear area around it to ensure no ignition of potential
fuel sources for fire.
