RE: MRL Pic
Michael,
Firstly, let me say this. Ferno Australia is a representative of MRL in
Australia. The Comments I make below are that of mine directly, and may not
reflect the views of MRL USA.
We have been distributing this range in Australia for over 3 years now.
Having this time "under our belt", I would like to point out a few things
from our perspective:
1. The IBP option became available approx. 2.5 years ago. I know this for a
fact as we received the 1st unit ever produced for a client.
2. MRL is the only Company that offers a 7 year full parts and labour
warranty. Doesn't make since if they are selling a "less than stellar"
product, as they would be loosing money on this deal.
3. The PIC unit is designed to have independently operating modules. This is
for 2 reasons, 1, to allow the unit to still function in the event of a
parameter failing, and 2 to make repairs less expensive. Some other
manufacturer, maybe even the other companies you have mentioned, use 1
central board for the entire unit. It fails, you will loose everything, and
it is very expensive to replace. Priced a main board for a LP10 lately?
4. Battery Life, the Current NIMH batteries will get you between 2-4 hrs
duration, we have never seen less than this. We have in Australia (shh..
don't tell, made Aircraft power leads to suit the PIC systems)
I am concerned that you have had such a bad experience with the unit. We
have sold in excess of 70 of the PIC units in Australia, and have heard no
comments such as yours. Quite the opposite really, with most users buying
additional units.
I gather from your comments that you still have a unit? If so, could you
please let me know exactly what is wrong with it and what the serial number
is? Please reply directly to me off list at snewman@ferno.com.au so it
doesn't keep boring every-one (I am not trying to "shut you up", if you feel
necessary, please keep posting our discussions on the list).
Please note, I am not MRL, but I will assist you every way possible to sort
this out for you.
I look forward to your response.

Sorry if I offended anyone having said s$%# in my previous posting about the
MRL Pic. Sometimes its rather discouraging to see other programs fall pray
to
stellar marketing for a less than stellar product. We've all been there,
stuck
in a challenging scenario with a vital piece of equipment that goes bad with
multiple patient issues concurrently being addressed. Unfortunately unlike
a
Propaq that has a simple maintenance issue, or a Zoll with a bad battery,
this
device has multiple issues and I would not like to see it passed off like
the
products far superior for our line of work. The day I made that statement I
actually received 20 or so emails from colleagues thanking me for not having
to
have said the same thing! Anyhow, Rated G from now on. Sorry!
