Re: Hiring Practices

The hiring process for both air and ground transport personnel is at the very least complex. I agree with list member that said "SOmetimes the people with the most certifications aren't the best ones for the job" He is absolutely correct.  Certifications paint only a small part of the picture (and sometimes not a very clear picture !). Our program uses a good system....Initial resume review by management, then an interview process that consists of about 45 minutes with a peer group committee, then about 45 minutes with  at least two of our four managers.  This process coupled with a written test and a mega-code scenario generally provides us with a true picture of the candidate.  We use the same questions with each candidate and revise them periodically to insure we are getting the right information.   Experience, personality and dedication are more accurate indicators than certifications.  We do require certain minimums...ACLS< PALS, etc.   But we base our decision on the "whole person", I for one, don't want a partner that isn't a team player.   Our final hiring decision is reached when both the peer committe and the management group meet after the interview and discuss each candidate.   The system works for us....if anyone would like more information, please contact me.
