RE: Trauma analgesia

Patients should not have to suffer undo pain because of a clinical evaluation.

 

Two reasons:

1) Narcan if the Trauma or the pseudo-trauma surgeon desires.

 

2) Most Centers utilize one of a few forms of technical methods of clearing an abdomen:

.           a) FAST scan (abd ultrasound looking for free fluid in the anterior abd compartment

.           b) Double contrast CT Scan

.           c) Diagnostic Peritoneal Lavage

This is the gold standard.

 

Though the abdominal physical eval is clinically important, abd pain will not be the sole reason for a surgical intervention.
