Re: FW DNR
Montana created and now uses the Comfort One program. Many other states are
now also following along with it. It is a very good program and it avoids
the callousness of acquiring a "DNR" as it implies that you WILL do
something (palliative care) rather then let them lie there in pain or
choking.... in our state, it is the ONLY DNR Form that you are allowed to
use out-of-hospital. It also works in the hospital but the standard hospital
DNR forms do not work for us. A physician may ORDER a Comfort One status for
a patient in the chart for transport, or verbalize it. Our service however
does not accept verbal 'DNR'/Comfort One orders as a matter of legal
defense.
Is it common practice in your area to fly patients who have a DNR?
Be safe.

based in TX, we have the "Texas Out of Hospital DNR" form, but often we are
operating out of the state. We also have a generic form, but it the wording
is so complicated, I have to double read it every time we use it.
