RE: High Risk OB / Criteria



A high risk patient is described in the AWOHNN guidelines.  They have a
website that you could access by doing a google search.  The Northern
California Perinatal Dispatch Committee is looking at if an OB interfacility
transport done by less then an OB trained RN is a EMTALA violation due to
the fact that there is a decrease in level of care (personnel wise) in
transit.  I know it is very controversial, so don't fly off the handle at
the messenger (me) please.  Just wanted to put it out there that this is
being looked at.

Also EMTALA talks about not transporting laboring patients, then there is a
sentence that discusses it's okay if you are taking her from a place where
the services are inadequate.
