There are alternatives to the removal device if it is lost. Make a skin incision and put a kelly clamp on hte tubing and pull the needle out. I think that education should take place at the primary centers that you are likely to transport to and, if need be, the flight crew should give direct instructions on its use and removal to staff that accept the patient at the receiving institution. It should be no big deal.
