As a peds/neo team director for many years, I have heard the following often from both the adult flight team as well as the specialty team:  "They/We don't really need to be trained like the adult team because we/they are really the ones in charge of the aircraft".

The Bayflite/All Children's Hospital affirmed what I've always preached - all air crew members on the flight are responsible for the safety of the aircraft and should be trained appropriately.  (That means specialty teams, too)

After all, isn't the goal for everyone to go home safely at the end of the shift?
