Yes........our pilots work from 06:30 to 18:30 and drive back and forth each day for seven consecutive days.........but........then they have seven off. They work seven days and then seven off and then switch to seven nights. They all seem to like it that way. A couple of them have located motor homes in the area and stay in them while they are on their seven day hitch.

Yet another question...What do you do with your pilots at these remote bases(rest time)? Do they simply drive back after each 12 hour shift or spend night and work consecutive days following their rest time?Bill WaechterSan Antonio AirLife
>>> MSMITH_01@email.msn.com 08/20/02 03:23PM >>>Hello, four of our five rotor bases are remote and a couple of our MICU bases are remote. We work 24 hours at each of the rotor bases, not sure of the MICU bases. The nurses work a 24/72 schedule with a kelly day every four weeks. Most of the medics are part-time and work one 24 a week to a 24 every other week. We get $10.50 for driving to the bases, come to tink about it....that is the same amount we got seven years ago.....might see if we could get that bumped up. The farthest base from Main base is about 65-70 miles. Most live in Columbus so the drive is about 1 1/2 hours.Thanks,Mike----- Original Message -----Sent: Tuesday, August 20, 2002 2:47 PMSubject: Re: Other questions for remote baseWe have a remote base approximately 120 miles from our home base. It takes about 2 hours to drive and we are paid for the travel time in both directions from base to base. Our employer also supplies 2-3 cars for the trip, both from our home base and our remote base city where we have several employees. Those employees are also required to travel to our home base to work. If a company car is not available the hospital will reimburse the employee, I think it's about 80 cents per mile, but I don't recall exactly. We use a combination of 1-12 hour and 1-24 shifts per week. Meeting or clinical time makes up the difference to get us close to 40 hours (OT is a dirty word, of course).I hope that helps.Fly safe,Eric E. Kincaid, CCEMT-P
