Re: Other questions for remote base

Hello, four of our five rotor bases are remote and a couple of our MICU bases are remote.  We work 24 hours at each of the rotor bases, not sure of the MICU bases.  The nurses work a 24/72 schedule with a kelly day every four weeks.  Most of the medics are part-time and work one 24 a week to a 24 every other week.  We get $10.50 for driving to the bases, come to tink about it....that is the same amount we got seven years ago.....might see if we could get that bumped up.  The farthest base from Main base is about 65-70 miles.  Most live in Columbus so the drive is about 1 1/2 hours.

Thanks,
Mike

Subject: Re: Other questions for remote base

We have a remote base approximately 120 miles from our home base.  It takes about 2 hours to drive and we are paid for the travel time in both directions from base to base.  Our employer also supplies 2-3 cars for the trip, both from our home base and our remote base city where we have several employees.  Those employees are also required to travel to our home base to work.  If a company car is not available the hospital will reimburse the employee, I think it's about 80 cents per mile, but I don't recall exactly.

We use a combination of 1-12 hour and 1-24 shifts per week.  Meeting or clinical time makes up the difference to get us close to 40 hours (OT is a dirty word, of course).

I hope that helps.
